Dynamics 365 Field Service - Setting up territories

What they are used for?

Territories are used for dividing large service areas, a territory could be a city, country, region, state etc...

How this could be useful?

When a work order is generated for a service account, the work order will inherit the service territory from the service account, Moreover, when you are scheduling a work order using the scheduling assistant, the resources suggested for the work order can be filtered based on the same territory of the work order, this can be useful in order to make sure the work order can be done ASAP by a proper resource.
Also this helps the dispatchers manage the schedules in an efficient way when managing the schedule board.
NOTE: You can't allocate a user for more than one territory, in case you need to allocate a user to multiple territories you have to create a new territory and then add the territories you want to the new one, thus you can allocate the user with the new territory.
