What is the Difference?
CRM App for Outlook is a lightweight tracking app, that doesn't require Installation or configuration, Data like phone numbers, Company names and upcoming activities will appear in the Outlook inbox, you can also use the CRM App for Outlook with the Outlook desktop app, or from the Outlook Mobile app.
CRM for Outlook is an Add on for the Desktop version of Microsoft Outlook that must be installed, in this case you are not required to configure Server-side Synchronization in CRM.
Before you can use the CRM App for Outlook :
  • Use CRM Online, and Dynamics CRM 2015 Update 1 or earlier
  • Use Exchange Online for Email processing
  • Synchronize Email using Server-side Synchronization
  • Security Roles enable use CRM for Office Apps privileges
  • Dynamics CRM App for Outlook Preview feature is enabled on your Organization
  • Dynamics CRM App for Outlook to your Exchange Online Service
